Akon admits to using his brothers as body doubles when he was overbooked on shows

Akon has acknowledged that in the past, when he was double booked, he relied on his brother Abou ‘Bu’ Thiam to take over on stage. When questioned about the allegations while appearing as a guest on The Morning Hustle, the 49-year-old singer made the revelation.

Let me make a few things clear so we all understand, he said. I had a double in Bu. He was my twin. This happened before to the internet. You couldn’t tell the difference if you saw Abou in one area and me in another.

The singer of “Don’t Matter” went on to describe how his brother initially served as his hype man. The number of requests for concerts and appearances increased as his fan base and platform expanded. Akon and Bu made the decision to carry it out jointly.

He said, “I was like, ‘Man, all this money I’m leaving on the table. We can’t just throw away this much cash.

Akon’s response when asked if his brother could sing was straightforward:

“No. He isn’t a singer. Nothing of the sort can he do.

Later in the chat, Akon joked that without the singer or Bu’s consent, his other brother, Omar, would also claim his identity.
