Ancelotti reportedly blocked Real Madrid from signing Spanish striker – See why

According to El Nacional, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti allegedly rejected the signing of Spanish attacker Raul de Tomas because of his actions at Espanyol.
This summer, Ancelotti’s team was looking for a replacement for captain Karim Benzema and had De Tomas in mind.

De Tomas made an impression for Espanyol last season, scoring 17 goals in 36 games, and was sought after by several European teams. Even though the 27-year-old was the most sought-after striker, Real Madrid was hesitant to make an offer for him.

Only midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco and defender Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea were ultimately recruited by Los Blancos.
Ancelotti reportedly had qualms about the signing of De Tomas because the former Real Madrid young player was too individualist, which is why he rejected a deal for the player.
Along with this, Real Madrid refused to agree to Espanyol’s demand of €40 million for De Tomas.
Despite interest from Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, De Tomas ultimately stayed at Espanyol, but he is yet to play this season due to a muscle issue.
