The Portuguese forward appeared to snub the pundit.
Before Manchester United’s win against Liverpool on Monday night, Cristiano Ronaldo looked to purposefully ignore Jamie Carragher on the touchline.
The Manchester United forward approached the Sky Sports punditry crew, who were stationed at the stadium prior of the game, and exchanged handshakes and pleasantries with former United players Gary Neville and Roy Keane.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher made a clear gesture to shake Ronaldo’s hand, but the former Real Madrid striker appeared to make an effort not to shake his hand.
Carragher or anyone else on the punditry crew made no mention of the incident, but it certainly generated a sensation online.
Former Red Devil “Cristiano completely blanking Carragher there,” Rio Ferdinand laughed.
“Did you do a 360 like in the old days?”
“Loooool Ronaldo blanked Jamie Carragher,” one person said.
“Ronaldo blanking Carragher will be the highlight of the game,” commented another.
“Ronaldo left Carragher hanging,” one joked.
“Ronaldo gave Carragher zero respect there,” said another.
It turned out that the highlights would continue for Manchester United and their supporters, but not for Ronaldo personally.
The attacker was kept on the bench and only came on later in the game when United was focused on defending their 2-0 lead.
Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford scored either side of halftime, and the team looked unrecognizable from the one that lost 4-0 at Brentford last Saturday.
Erik ten Hag will be eager to build on their win against Southampton this weekend.
