Captain of Barcelona Sergio Busquets is willing to accept a pay cut, but there is a catch

Sergio Busquets, the captain of Barcelona, is prepared to accept a pay cut.

Sport claims he is aware of the issues facing the team and is willing to accept a lower salary or postpone a portion of his pay, but on the condition that he retains the right to leave Barça at the conclusion of the 2022–23 season if he so chooses.
Busquets has listened to Barça’s renewal proposal to spread out his pay over a longer period of time with a cut as well, but Barça must ensure the resolution complies with LaLiga’s legal requirements.

Busquets wants the freedom to leave Barça if he signs a new contract, but decides in June at the age of nearly 35 that it’s time to go on.
Deferred payments, which would be calculated using the current campaign’s accounts in accordance with LaLiga’s criteria, are the issue in that situation. Barça would not be able to free up any payroll space as a result.
This week’s negotiations between the two parties are still going on.
