The Lagos state police command has detained well-known Nigerian singer Ice Prince for allegedly mistreating and assaulting a police officer.
According to a rumor shared on social media, Ice Prince was pulled over by a police officer early on September 2 for driving without a license plate, but the incident turned violent.
The police officer was initially willing to be taken to the station by Ice Prince, according to reports, which were confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command.
However, Ice Prince later abducted the officer in his car, assaulted him, and threatened to throw him into the lagoon. The report that the Oleku hitmaker would be arraigned in court today was confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
Hundeyin wrote on Twitter, “at about 3a.m @Iceprincezamani was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be taken to the station.
“He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him, and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today.”
