Veteran Nollywood performer Ini Edo recently voiced her viewpoint over American rapper and producer 50 Cent’s plans to create a film based on the exploits of imprisoned internet scammer Ramon Abbas (aka) Hushpuppi.
While praising the growth, the actress gave some guidance regarding the actors who should appear in the film.
Gist Paper recalls 50 Cent on Wednesday, announced plans to release a television series inspired by Hushpuppi, who was jailed for 11 years in the U.S. for his role in the laundering of millions of dollars via online scams.
“For my con artists, I gotta do this one,” he wrote. Coming soon: the Hushpuppi series! I don’t miss GLGGreenLightGang at all.
Reactions to the announcement have remained conflicted. While some people believe the idea should go forward, others believe it should not.
Actress Ini Edo, on the other hand, thinks it’s a smart idea but requests that the American cast the movie with Nigerian actors.
You’re welcome, Nigerian actors are your best bet, she wrote in the post’s comment area.
The suggestion is in line with one made by Uche Jombo, another Nollywood actress, who also appealed with the American celebrity to make sure a Nigerian actor gets the part in the American star’s comment area.
“Please give a Nigerian actor the chance to play this character,” she pleaded in her letter.
