Lewandowski score again as Barcelona beat 10-men Elche

Barcelona defeated Elche with 10 men and won easily thanks to two goals from Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish international has 11 goals in 8 games since joining Barcelona in the summer, scoring both goals before and after the break.

Memphis Depay launched a thunderous shot into the net’s roof in the interim to start his scoring run.

In the 14th minute, the opposing captain Gonzalo Verdu was sent for bringing Lewandowski down after he had completed his move.

With 25 shots on goal compared to Elche’s one, Xavi’s team went on to easily win.

Before Lewandowski scored his eighth goal in six games in the Spanish top flight, Alejandro Balde set him up for his first of the game. Depay added a second, and Pedri had a third goal disallowed after VAR intervened.

Barca is now one point ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the standings, and Carlo Ancelotti’s team will travel to play Atletico on Sunday night (20:00 BST).
