Messi’s stunning free-kick and Mbappe’s late winner help PSG edge Nice to go top

Paris St. Germain defeated Nice with a late goal from Kylian Mbappe, returning them to the top of the Ligue 1 standings.
The French champions took the lead through to Lionel Messi’s outstanding 20-yard free kick, which kept Kasper Schmeichel anchored to the spot.

With his first goal for Nice, Gaetan Laborde pounced from close range to startle the home team and tie the score.
However, replacement Mbappe’s goal in the 83rd minute gave PSG their eighth straight victory across all competitions.

Just before the hour mark, the French striker came in to replace Hugo Ekitike, slotting in from Nordi Mukiele’s cutback.
Since replacing Mauricio Pochettino as manager in the summer with Christophe Galtier, who led Nice last season, PSG have not lost.
With eight victories and a draw from nine games, they take the lead. With seven victories and two draws, Marseille, who drops to second place, is likewise unbeaten.
