Father Edwin Gathang’i, an ordained priest, recently made headlines once again, this time for a significant event in his life. He had previously defected from the Roman Catholic Church to join a splinter group known as the Catholic Charismatic Church.
This time around, the ordained priest, now referred to as Pastor Gathang’i, celebrated a joyous union with his beloved Margaret Wanjira Githui in a beautiful wedding ceremony held at Michael’s Pot Gardens. The wedding garnered widespread attention due to the notable departure from the traditional practice of celibacy, which Roman Catholic priests have upheld for centuries.

During the ceremony, Pastor Gathang’i expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my lovely wife for her willingness to be a vessel of God’s purpose in our lives. We aim to demonstrate to the world that it is indeed possible to serve God and simultaneously have a loving family.” He went on to share that after dedicating numerous years to the ministry, he felt a deep-seated desire to start a family and embark on this new chapter in his life.
