In a thrilling academic showdown, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) secured a hard-fought victory over Accra Academy, earning themselves a coveted spot in the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) semifinals.

The NSMQ competition, held on Tuesday, October 17, was a test of intellect and knowledge where PRESEC-Legon clinched victory with 63 points, narrowly edging out Accra Academy, who scored 58 points. Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) claimed the third position with 31 points.

Furthermore, in a display of intellectual prowess, Prempeh College, Pope John Senior High School Minor Seminary, and Opoku Ware, emerged victorious in their respective quarter-final matches, earning them the opportunity to go head-to-head in the upcoming semifinals. Meanwhile, PRESEC-Legon, Ketasco, and Mfantsipim School will engage in a fierce battle in the third semifinal round.

The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) commenced on October 6, 2023, marking a significant milestone for this prestigious competition. This year’s NSMQ has raised the bar by simultaneously unfolding at two prominent locations: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra.

For the first time in the history of the National Championship, the competition spans two locations, with the initial four preliminary stages hosted at KNUST in Kumasi and culminating in a grand finale at the illustrious National Theatre in Accra.

The NSMQ continues to be a platform where bright young minds showcase their knowledge and problem-solving skills, and the results of these exhilarating matches are sure to captivate students, educators, and quiz enthusiasts alike.
